Admiralty, May 28, 1908. WITH reference to your letter of the 23rd ultimo respecting the training of Chinese Sub-Lieutenants in His Majesty's ships, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to forward herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State, a copy of the reply which has been sent to the Commander-in-chief, China,

Admiralty, May 28, 1908.

MY Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty have had under their consideration your predecessor's submission of the 31st January last, forwarding a request from Rear-Admiral Sah, on behalf of the Chinese Government, that two or more Chinese Sub-Lieutenants, on completion of the courses which they are now undergoing, may be embarked for further training in His Majesty's ships.

In reply, I am to request that you will inform Rear-Admiral Sah that their Lordships have been pleased to approve of his request, and that two of the six Sub-Lieutenants will be selected, at the completion of their courses, for two years' training afloat.
